This recording came at a time after my cassette 8 track had died, sometime in 2004 probably. i dont have any notes or photos from this session which is unfortunate. despite the 8 track not working anymore i was able to borrow Troy Mighty's 4 track (Dead Western) to pull off a demo session with a newly formed band, the Carpet Pissers. By this point i had also been borrowing things like an 8 channel snake and a few more microphones as well as picking up the mixing board from a venue that i worked at, the old Capital Garage. We setup in my house that I had been using as a recording studio. it was great. there was no treatment, i used the living room for drums, the kitchen for the guitar amp, and the bass amp was in one of the two back bedrooms. the other bedroom was my control room. with only 4 tracks available i bussed the drums mics down to just one track, one track for the guitar, one track for bass. we overdubbed the single vocal track for each song and any guitar solos were done on the fly in one take. everything was intentionally simple so there was no need for any fancy production. the band eventually disbanded and these demos were never released, aside from burned CD-Rs passed among friends, until now. these fresh mixes are clearer, louder, but retain the original feel of a simple 3 piece band.
